We are a small country nursery supplying plants, seeds and bulbs online from our Victorian Cottage Garden. We are in the lucky position of having a Trout river running through our garden where the salmon run up to spawn every year. When we moved here the garden had been totally neglected for many years, so our first project was to start to reclaim the land that nature had covered with weeds ash tree saplings, and the biggest Snowberry bushes I have ever seen. After a few years of hard work we have uncovered some gems we never had a clue were there. Our Victorian Cottage and Garden were once a part of a very large country house and estate, which was landscaped and planted out by the owners over a hundred years ago. Now the house and estate are no more except for the properties like ours that were sold off. We are developing a fernery garden, which will include over 30 Tree Ferns (Dicksonia Antarctica) up to 7 feet tall. The riverbanks are a massive project, as when we first got here you could not see the river from the garden as the hedges had reached over 25 feet deep. Now we have put in the pathway along the top of the bank, which has an arbor over it that we are training grape vines up. The pathway runs down to our log cabin that we have built along with a surrounding big deck to sit and enjoy the river from. One of our best discoveries in the garden was the massive drifts of snowdrops, which I have been dividing up and re planting for the last few years. These spare Snowdrops are the same snowdrops that I have been selling for the last couple of years. Our biggest challenges have been trying to find a way to live with the Rabbits that feed on most of the plants we try to introduce to our beds, and the river flooding the whole garden to a depth of 3 feet twice in one year. With this in mind we have planted a lot of different Arum or Calla Lilies, which we find the rabbits, tend to leave alone in the most part and grow well in our soil. Even with all these challenges and setbacks, we have still managed to put in our greenhouse and staging area, propagation beds, and large raised veg beds. Our large lawn has taken lots of time and work to level out all the potholes and lumps that the moles had worked so hard to create! We still have lots to do but then again a garden is never finished but developing and maturing with time. We now have excess stocks of Plants, Seeds and bulbs, which we now sell here, at Tree Pebbles Nursery. Our stocks will increase as we continue to Propagate more varieties. At different times of year we find we need to divide and re plant plants throughout the garden so lookout for any specials we offer.
